Frozen Road 03:31
There's a line on Winter's palm between Boston and Montreal A lonely, frozen highway in the pines There lovers will collide some say the road's alive and the flurries in your headlights hypnotize They say it freezes In the middle of the road and the ice is a mirror for the sky Where the stars are a crowd as the moon is shouting out: 'for heaven's sake you shouldn't drive tonight' But she is driving at 145 miles an hour down the frozen mountain side And she is hoping that the message she intended got recorded before her cell phone blipped and died He is driving in a Northerly direction smiling at the imminent surprise of his arrival on her doorstep in what is now only a couple of hours time There's a hoot from an owl signs rearrange their vowels cat's eyes in the road begin to wink but we stubborn human beings see only what we want to see and sometimes don't read signs until too late They say it freezes In the middle of the road and the ice is a mirror for the sky Where the stars are a crowd as the moon is shouting out: 'for heaven's sake you shouldn't drive tonight' 'for heaven's sake you shouldn't drive tonight'

Ever since we parted The days have chosen to be dark And the rain that pelts the windows It's certainly not it's fault And the wind that slows down walking What did it ever do? Still I'm blaming the weather For breaking me and you I don't got a problem with you fuckin' me over But I got a little problem with not being your lover Please, I wanna be more than friends again And you might have a doubt about me knocking around But I swear this time I'm going to stand my ground I want to be more than friends again The calendar says Summer But the climate's more like Fall And the fog that rolled in thick last night Did it block your telephone call And I don't know why I'm now standing out In this deluge but I do In the boots and coat that you bought me While the water soaks them through I don't got a problem with you fuckin' me over But I got a little problem with not being your lover Please, I wanna be more than friends again And you might have a doubt about me knocking around But I swear this time I'm going to stand my ground I want to be more than friends again

Taco Truck 03:06
Got it set up in a parking lot, and they don't mind cooking at the early morning taco truck no, they never stop cooking I know, I'm hanging there an awful lot I get there in the morning with the cops and start to mop for my food its a swap Deep beliefs can defeat joy I get complete when I've eaten well and my feet are warm and dry You know my feet are warm and dry I've been standing beneath the train tracks In the morning I see evidence of crack and I pick up trash and strew flowers on the path then I head to where the food is truly tops Anything they say, anything they want You know I'm on the job It's an elegant exchange for one who could so easily be lost Deep beliefs can defeat joy I get complete when I've eaten well and my feet are warm and dry You know my feet are warm and dry I get by

Everlasting rose blooms in the hearts of all who know All love is learning All love is growing And measuring time is for people who find that they don't have much time to play So they save a billet d' hotel from a trip that they took to Paris in 1966 when they were kids Everlasting rose You're still blooming You're still growing On and on Everlasting rose You're blooming On and on Go grow and grow And it makes me feel better to know that in some absurd way this all fits together How it wastes away and seems to dissolve How it grows from a clipping Everlasting rose You're still blooming You're still growing On and on Everlasting rose You're blooming On and on

Jackson Hole 02:35
We've been packing up the wagon loading all the bags in and the dogs are on the floor We've been here for generations but it's a different nation and the way we used to live don't match the law anymore Trying to grow trying to grow in Jackson Hole Grandpa's riding shotgun meals at Starbuck's on the run and the teens are reading Starhawk lore When we hit the west coast skate park bowls become hotels and the Western Union wire doesn't show from Jackson Hole Trying to grow trying to grow in Jackson Hole And we're getting up most every night we're getting up most every night you're sure to see we're getting up most every night and almost always standing on our knees in Jackson Hole Trying to grow in Jackson Hole

Sleepy Beach 03:49
The moon is standing guard through the roofs many holes
spilling golden syrup over giant saguaros
back broken snake in its blood on the road
merrily the scorpions unfold I hear your living south in coastal Mexico
fires in hot coffee cans illuminate the road
leading to the town of San Juanico
where you're living with your dog and an old surfboard Oh, sleepy beach
hear the tide creeping through the pebbles from the sea
foaming around the roots of an old orange tree
attached to the hammock where you lie asleep We've been fishing from the bay near your improvised home
tending to the trees in the orange grove that you own
trading those in town for vegetables ceremonially smoking in the arroyo Palms lying flat on a Mayan sunset
sipping at the rim of the mighty Pacific
the coast rising up the way a nicely tanned neck
might rise up from a turquoise dress Oh sleepy beach
hear the tide creeping through the pebbles from the sea
foaming around the roots of an old orange tree
attach to the hammock where you lie asleep Oh sun bleached bones fires in hot coffee cans illuminate the road
leading to the town of San Juanico
where you're living with your dog and an old surfboard and in the morning after rolling
we'll be surfing waves of Baja Gold
 off the coast of Mexico
where the cactus grows where the moon beholds through the roofs many holes in your improvised home scorpions unfold San Juanico An electric flash at sea and the room becomes a set You become the sage against whom many used to bet
who used to sleep in a tent in the hills outside of school
bathing in the backyard swimming pools and in the morning after rolling
we'll be surfing waves of Baja Gold
 off the coast of Mexico
where the cactus grows where the moon beholds through the roofs many holes in your improvised home scorpions unfold San Juanico

There's a beach in California where the silver water spills through the gills of giant sharks that are feeding on fat seals. There's a cloud above the tundra where the eagles take their prey and the blood of tiny rodents pelts your head like drops of rain. I got to see how far out i can go before the folks at home don't miss me anymore I want to see just how free i can be in my barefoot, shorts and ragged t Barefoot, shorts and ragged t someone's got to jump into the river from the rocks in their barefoot, shorts and ragged t Might as well be me Barefoot shorts and ragged t Someone's got to jump into the river from the rocks in their barefoot, shorts and ragged t It might as well be me When you get far out in the wilderness and your pack gets light and there's people that you miss Lie on the rocks by the river in the light, pitch your tent on the top of a waterfall at night And the sky is purple and it's filled with stars in the valley down below there's another camp fire, one things for sure when you're this far out, you don't gotta entertain your worries and your doubts ... It's a successful planet I went to the lake to see about fishing But when we got there all the fish they were missing And all that was there was a couple kissing And a dirty old man by the river bank pissing So I took a truck to the source of the river and saw that it was blocked by a legion of dead diggers who'd tried to burrow through to a mother load of gold but succumbed to the gasses from the center of the world I want to see how far out i can go before the folks at home don't miss me anymore I've got to see just how free i can be in my barefoot, shorts and ragged t all i can say is it might as well be you
